Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has awarded the 500-megawatt (MW) Manah Solar II Independent Power Project (IPP), located in Manah, Oman to a consortium of South Korea’s KOWEPO and France’s EDF-Renewables.

The IPP would be built at an investment of 600 billion Korean won, KOWEPO said in a press statement dated carried by industry news portals Renewables Now and Taiyang News on Wednesday, 22 March.

Last week, OPWP had awarded the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) contract for Manah I Solar IPP to a joint venture of Singapore’s Sembcorp Utilities and China's Jinko Power.

KOWEPO said Manah II IPP is backed by a 20-year power purchase (PPA) agreement with OPWP. Construction is expected to start in the second half of 2023 and complete by March 2025.
