Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) is expected to award the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for its Al Ezzel and East Sitra Water Distribution Stations project by the first quarter of 2023.

A source aware of the details told Zawya Projects that the main contract tender was reissued on 19 July 2022 with a bid submission deadline of 11 December 2022. The main contract is expected to be awarded by early March 2023, with the overall project completion and commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.

The bidders will be bidding for a single EPC contract for both stations, the source said.

The scope of work involves the construction of two new water transmission and distribution Stations.  Al Ezzel will consist of two Ground Storage Tanks of 10 million gallons (MG) made of steel, one elevated storage reservoir with 1-million-gallon storage and a pumping station.  East Sitra will have two Ground storage tanks of 5 MG storage and one elevated storage reservoir with 1 MG storage and a pumping station.

The roofs for all ground storage tanks would be designed for installations of solar panels while the Elevated Storage Reservoirs would be cladded with solar panels to generate electricity. Additionally, both stations shall be connected with the Control Centre for full control and easy monitoring.
