Saudi Aramco has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Company to localise industrial 5G technology ecosystem, starting with private networks, in Saudi Arabia.

The proposed collaboration will contribute to the digital transformation of various industrial sectors in the Kingdom, such as energy, petrochemicals, and manufacturing, the oil giant said in a statement.

Aramco will leverage advanced 4G and 5G technologies capable of providing secure, fast and reliable communications to satisfy business critical requirements of industries.

The statement said that the companies aim to advance industrial 5G use cases with mission-critical communications.

The Saudi-listed firm launched Aramco Digital Company in January 2023, aiming to accelerate digital transformation within the Kingdom and the MENA region.
