Oman’s Sultan has issued a Royal Decree earmarking large land parcels exclusively for clean hydrogen and renewable projects in the Sultanate paving way for the speedy execution of these projects.

The land parcels will be granted to Hydrom by way of a usufruct agreement based on a request by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. Hydrom can then divide and allot these plots to private developers through a bidding process.

The first of its kind legislation allows Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals to approve some clean energy projects that have been signed prior to Hydrom’s auction process that began last November.

Hydrogen Oman Company (Hydrom) is responsible for developing the hydrogen industry in Oman and is overseeing the auction process for these projects. The company is currently evaluating bids for two land parcels that are expected to be awarded by mid-2023.
