Work on the Al Fateh Highway is on track, with 56 per cent of the project already completed.

The construction of the main works of the tunnel is also progressing steadily, reaching 57pc, said Works Minister Ibrahim Al Hawaj yesterday.

The project aims to increase the capacity of the Al Fateh Highway by 61pc to 140,000 vehicles per day, up from 87,000.

The Tender Board awarded the infrastructure project to Nass Contracting and Huta Hegerfeld consortium, at a total cost of about BD29.66 million.

The construction work which started in April 2021, is expected to be complete within three years.

Financed by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), the project is under the supervision of Parsons Engineering Consultancy Firm.
