The MoU came to strengthen exchanges in the field of research
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - In recognition of the importance of exchanges in the field of research, Zayed University (ZU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Geneva in Abu Dhabi campus yesterday (Tuesday).
Professor Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of ZU, signed the MoU with Professor Yves Fl ckiger, Rector for the University of Geneva following their meeting in order to strengthen contacts between faculty members and researchers at the two institutions.
The MoU ceremony was also attended by Dr Marilyn Roberts, Acting Provost, Dr Ibrahim Souss, Professor and Chair of the Standing Committee for International Education (SCIE), Dr Pierre Willa, Director at the University of Geneva, and number of administrators and specialists from both parties.
The two participating parties expressed their intentions to encourage exchanges between researchers, professors, and other members of their respective teaching staff, in the field they represent. Furthermore, efforts will be directed towards establishing other forms of scholarly collaboration, such as the organization of colloquia, seminars, conferences, and cooperative research projects, including the exchange of relevant academic material.
Each party to this agreement will designate its representative for matters relating to academic coordination and the execution of collaborative activities. The representatives will establish the program of exchanges and/or other collaborative programs and provide an annual report of activities and progress.
Founded in 1559, the University of Geneva is dedicated to thinking, teaching, dialogue and research. It is Switzerland's second largest university with a strong international reputation, both for the quality of its research and the excellence of its education.
Professor AlMehaideb has pointed out that the MoU came to strengthen collaboration between both institutions in the fields of research especially researches that are focused on sustainability sciences, business administration, information technology and Islamic finance.
"The agreement will also provide promising student exchange opportunities between the two institutions," he added.
Professor Yves Fl ckiger has stressed on the significance of the MoU in reinforcing the academic cooperation and promoting joint research between ZU and the University of Geneva.
"We will work together in terms of coordinating plans that develop bilateral student exchange opportunities and allow students enrolled in both institutions to gain more learning experience either through the regular academic programs or extracurricular summer activities," he said.
