18 October 2010, Muscat: The Yukon XL and Yukon Denali XL feature distinctive styling and spacious, refined interiors. Along with the cars' exceptional driving characteristics and advanced technology, Yukon offers unmatched power, space, comfort and capability that have helped it carve a niche for itself in the big size SUV segment.
The powertrains include the standard 5300-litre, V8 SFI engine with Active Fuel Management and an optional 6200-litre V8 SFI unit with Variable Valve Timing. Coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission as standard, the new power units add extra efficiency to an already comprehensive package of performance, safety and comfort.
Both engines use advanced technologies and lightweight materials, including an aluminium cylinder block that help deliver some serious performance figures. The 5300-litre variant generates 310 hp (net) at 5,200 rpm and 454 Nm (net) of torque at 4,400, while the 6200-litre pumps out 403 hp (net) at 5,700 rpm and 565 Nm (net) of torque at 4,300 rpm.
They are attached to the now standard, fuel-saving, six-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control and electronic overdrive. The engineering adds to an already comprehensive package of performance, safety and comfort features that provide customers with an unparalleled choice in the segment.
Meanwhile, the Yukon XL and Yukon Denali XL have lateral exterior dimensions similar to its shorter-wheelbase equivalent, but are 355 mm longer in wheelbase and 508 mm longer in overall length.
The interior space provides a roomy, refined environment, thanks to a premium tone-on-tone colour scheme and a lower-positioned instrument panel. Sculpted seat designs and detailed trim place the Yukon high up in the luxury stakes and feature a wide range of additional options including leather seats in the front and second-row captain's chairs - as opposed to the traditional bench layout. The front seats offer plenty of fore/aft travel, and the second-row seats have a comfortable angle for seatback recline. A third-row seat is standard in all Yukon models that also offer an industry-exclusive power fold-and-tumble second-row seat feature that eases access to third-row seats.
Soft materials for the instrument panel and other trim pieces complement the styling while the choice of colour and grain for the materials have been carefully selected to provide a premium feel as well as durability. Flush-mounted Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) controls continue the luxury theme assisted by the chrome trim on instrument surrounds, vents and other interiors.
Remote start is available, allowing the climate system to cool the vehicle's interior prior to use. Features such as power-folding running boards and power liftgate, improve accessibility. This easy-to-operate liftgate feature is designed to use the mass of the tailgate to almost open or close itself once the liftgate is past the halfway-open position. A switch inside the vehicle activates the power assist or it can be activated via the key fob.
The Yukon XL and Yukon Denali XL are designed to be among the industry's safest and secure vehicles with a 360-degree perimeter safety system of occupant protection and crash avoidance technologies. Standard features include head-curtain side air bags for all seating rows and front-seat safety belt pretensioners that are linked to the vehicle's sensing system to provide segment-exclusive deployment in rear-end crashes. Sensors located at the front of the vehicle, in the side doors, and within the occupant compartment provide instant crash detection.
