Ghar Ki Lakshmi...Betiyaan
Dubai, UAE, 16 October, 2006: After the super success of Dulhann, Kasamh Se and Saat Phere, Zee TV has now launched its mega serial Ghar Ki Lakshmi...Betiyaan, on Sunday, October 1st 2006, at 20.30 hrs UAE, Sunday to Wednesday. The show tackles the ever-prevalent issue of gender discrimination and tries to unveil the different myths surrounding gender stereotypes.
Yogesh Radhakrishnan, Managing Director and CEO of Real Media-Zee Network, said: "Betiyaan is yet another attempt by the channel to consciously build programmes that tackle social problems that are most pertinent for our audiences. The issue of gender-discrimination is trans-cultural and audiences can relate to it equally in India and the Middle East. I am confident that the fans of our earlier soaps such as Dulhann and Kasamh Se will be delighted with this latest addition to our prime time".
The show has debutante Twinkle Bajpai, a Sa Re Ga Ma Pa participant, playing the lead role of Lakshmi, the daughter of the Garodia household. Dheeraj Kumar's Creative Eye is producing the show.
Speaking on the launch of the serial, Rajeev Kheror, Creative and Programming Head, Zee TV Middle East, said, "I first met Twinkle during Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005, and even at that time she impressed me with her style. I felt that she could also perform very well as an actress and not just as a singer. Her subsequent work in Betiyaan as proven my instinct to be right. She has done a great job".
The show is also distinguished by the fact that its sets are some of the grandest the channel has ever come up with. With rich Gujarati themes the Garodia family house seems to take viewers into the heart of interior Gujarat. The show promises to be of the same caliber as Dulhann, Kasamh Se and Saat Phere.
