Nuvera family of digital printers grows to six offering customers in the Middle East a growing range of options to suit their specific printing needs
Dubai, UAE, March 8, 2005 - Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) has expanded its Xerox Nuvera line of black-and-white digital production systems with two new printers that address the unique needs of service bureaus, corporate data centers, and companies in the financial services and insurance industries.
The Xerox Nuvera 100 and 120 MX Digital Production Systems enable businesses to produce printed documents requiring magnetic ink, such as checks, and traditional transactional jobs including bank statements, invoices and insurance policies.
These offerings complement the Xerox Nuvera 100 and 120 Digital Production Systems and the Nuvera 100 and 120 Digital Copier/Printers announced last year.
"With six separate systems as part of the Nuvera product platform, we are able to offer customers the technology that meets their specific needs," said Chris Govier, Production Business Manager, Distributor Operations, Xerox International Group, Middle East & Africa. "The Nuvera 100 and 120 MX systems will help businesses in the Middle East & Africa region to meet the demands from customers who have unique printing requirements and provide them with high-quality and customized documents."
The Xerox Nuvera 100 and 120 MX provide the same advanced features as the Nuvera Digital Production Systems -- including 100 and 120 page-per-minute print speeds and halftone density of up to 156 lines per inch to produce crisp image quality -- and also provide MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) printing capabilities to produce checks.
Two new data streams are also available on the entire line of Nuvera Digital Production Systems: LCDS (Line Conditioned Data Streams) and PPML (Personalized Print Markup Language/Variable Data Exchange). LCDS is the commonly used data stream for many transactional print jobs; PPML is an emerging standard for variable-data printing that is used to personalize publishing communications and direct mail. The Xerox Nuvera systems can also print files from PostScript, PDF, TIFF, ASCII, PCL and VIPP.
To further extend the systems' flexibility, the Xerox Nuvera MX Digital Production System works in conjunction with the Xerox FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection, a set of software and workflow tools that help streamline the path a print job follows from creation to final billing. The machines are driven by the FreeFlow DocuSP Controller, an integrated processor that sets up print files and transfers them to the printer. Widely used in the on-demand printing industry, DocuSP is a common controller that helps customers increase productivity and flexibility in producing transactional documents.
The new systems also support the FreeFlow Variable Information Suite, software designed for printing variable-information documents in which words and text can be changed page to page. This delivers additional value to companies that want to add marketing messages, such as special offers and coupons, to traditional transactional documents like credit-card statements.
The Xerox Nuvera 100 and 120 MX feature a total feeding capacity of up to 12 paper trays and 17,400 sheets. The basic finishing module can create stapled sets of documents or stack up to 3,000 sheets for offline finishing. For print jobs that require additional inline finishing, the finishing transport module makes it possible to add industry-standard finishing devices including stackers, booklet makers, and systems to create thermal-bound books.
The Xerox Nuvera 100 and 120 MX Digital Production Systems are immediately available for order taking and customer installation in North America. The products will also be available in Latin America.
