Wonho Chung announced as host of Middle East event show

Popular Arabic speaking stand-up comic will honour events industry professionals in glittering awards ceremony

Dubai, UAE, 23^rd May, 2011: Wonho Chung will host The Middle East EVENT Awards this year which recognises individuals, teams and businesses for their contributions and excellence in the region's event management industry.

The popular Korean Vietnamese stand-up comic, who speaks fluent Arabic and English, is a well known face in the region, having toured with the internationally acclaimed comedy group "The Axis of Evil Comedy Tour" across the Middle East.  The tour and subsequent award winning television series have made Chung an unlikely household name in the Arabic stand-up comedy scene.

The Middle East EVENT Awards, taking place on Wednesday 1 June in the Sheikh Rashid Hall of Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, honours outstanding achievements in the events industry from event managers and exhibition organisers to production teams and venue operators.  Now in its 4^th year, the Awards ceremony is expected to attract more than 600 guests vying to win one of 19 category awards.

"With a reputation for pushing boundaries and his innate understanding of Western, Arabic and Far Eastern cultures, we're excited to see what Wonho Chung has in store when he hosts the awards ceremony," said Richard Brook, Exhibition Director for The Middle East EVENT Awards.

Born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and raised in Amman, Jordan, Chung is an honorary ambassador for Tourism Korea, a trained singer with several certificates in vocal studies from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and a former professional table tennis player who represented the National Jordanian Table Tennis team.
