Manama - Bahrain: VIVA Bahrain, the Kingdom’s leading telecom operator, hosted a Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection dialogue session in partnership with Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF),  attended by top executives from leading Government and financial institutions for the discussion on the importance of cyber security and personal data protection regulations in today’s digital led business environment. 

Through such dialogue sessions VIVA Bahrain continues its commitment towards being an integral part in the Kingdom’s digital transformation and the nations cyber security maturity by being a key contributor in reforming Bahrain’s policies, strategies, regulations and frameworks in addition to launching the VIVA Cybersecurity Academy jointly with BIBF to develop local talents.

The dialogue session included key notes and a panel discussion led by Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Deputy CE Operations and Governance, Ahmed Al Balooshi Chairman of Cyber Security and Digitization Committee BAB and Buthaina Amin, Director of International Offices, EDB, members of leading organizations that play a pivoting role in paving the way for Bahrain’s Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection laws and regulations.   

Commenting on this, Eng. Nezar Banabeela, VIVA Bahrain Chief Executive Officer said “Connecting with industry leaders to exchange ideas and to discuss is exactly what is needed to maximize the Kingdom’s cyber security and personal data law maturity. He added “Our investment in technology through launching and first commercial Security Operation Center in addition to VIVA’s Cyber Security solutions and Cloud Computing offerings add significantly to our existing capabilities to help protect businesses in the Kingdom against cyber-attacks and enhance the well-being and security of the local community”.

The BIBF’s Director Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hameed Al Shaikh said, “Without a doubt, it is extremely important to stay up-to-date on current technological development especially in the field of Cybersecurity. With Cyber-attacks on the rise, Cybersecurity is fast becoming an investment priority for every business in order to protect personal and professional data.”

He also added, “While meeting regulatory obligations of the recently enforced Data Protection Law in the Kingdom, organizations need to build a more privacy-conscious culture, which respects and protects personal and corporate data and information.”
