United Arab Emirates, Dubai, 21st December 2006: Union Properties' UPTOWN Mirdiff, the mixed-use commercial and residential development located in the most tranquil district of Mirdiff, will celebrate the official opening of its retail area between the 22nd and 23rd December 2006.

The 'Street Carnival' themed celebration coincides with the Dubai Shopping Festival 2006 and will include street performers, fun-filled entertainments, spot prizes, quiz competitions, karaoke, fun games and workshops for both adults and children.

On both days, the Carnival will end with a Grand Finale- a half hour acrobatic show with fire and light, performed by international artists.

On Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd, from 3.00pm to 8.30pm, visitors and shoppers will witness dazzling performances from strolling artists in the main piazza and the surrounding retail area. Jugglers, skirt dancers, fire jugglers, stilt walkers, clowns, human statues, face painters, caricaturists, balloon benders will be mingling and interacting with the crowd.

Activities will include Treasure hunt that will see teams racing against each other to solve clues for directions to win valuable prizes and Price Buster, where participants will have to guess the correct price for certain items presented by the Master of Ceremony. Guests will also be given coloured tokens at the entrance and will be asked to collect as many as possible by introducing themselves to maximum number of people.

Winning visitors and shoppers will also benefit from enormous amount of prizes, gift vouchers, discount vouchers and free meals to be distributed at the Carnival.
