Dubai, April 28, 2008: The Students Counseling Office, University of Dubai, has opened the Second Student Counseling week for 2007-2008. It was sponsored by Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar). The week included psychological lectures which have been held from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM each day.

Dubai Autism Center took part in the "Student Counseling Exhibition" week as well as The Community Mental Health Center (Dubai Police), Al-Rashed Center, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Arab Media Group (AMG) represented by Noor Dubai Radio Station, in addition to the participation of Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar), the official sponsor of the program, that took the opportunity to explain the safety procedures and the precaution of side effects of medication especially the ones that are used on a long term basis and lead to addictive cases such as the psychological, mental and chronic diseases medicines that lead to depression and anxiety.

The exhibition also contained many informative brochures, leaflets and other visual and textual aids that helped students understand the nature of counseling. Psychological and social consultations for students and psychological tests were provided by the Mental and Behavioral Therapist Dr. Ahmad Al Imam and Dr. Urmimala the Clinical Psychologist at Dubai Autism.

Dr. Sultana Othman, The Manager of The Community Mental Health Center (Dubai Police), presented a lecture discussing the reasons of psychological depression, its symptoms, prevention and healing methods. She also discussed the difference between psychological and mental depression.

The exhibition aims to make students understand what the participating centers are offering as prescriptive services, training courses and psychological and social consultation. It will aim to contribute to the development of student skills and improve them in all social and practical fields. Students were also taught the methods of dealing with some difficulties that they may face during their education
