Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (May 18, 2002): Al-Jubail United Petrochemical Company (UNITED), a wholly owned affiliate of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has awarded engineering services, construction and procurement contract of its ethylene glycol plant to a Japanese firm , Toyo Engineering Company. The plant will use scientific design technology from the USA.
The project considered to be the largest of its kind in the world, with annual capacity of ( 630,000 ) mt of ethylene glycol is likely to be completed within 28 months. The UNITED's other plants include: ethylene with annual capacity of (1,000,000) mt and Linear Alpha Olefins ( LAO ) with annual capacity of (150,000) mt. In addition, UNITED complex possesses 50% of the Petrokemya polyethylene plant (under construction) having an annual capacity of 800,000 mt .
