The Geology Department of UAE University has organised Geology Day 2010 with the theme of "Climate Change and its Environmental Impact". The event will be held today in Al Ain, on the UAEU Campus. Geology Day is an annual event, with a different theme each year, where the students of the Geology Department can interact with scientists and experts from different governmental and private organizations. The theme this year will discuss climate change and its environmental impact.
A series of lectures will be presented on the theme of climate change, and representatives from the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, the ENOC Group, the Ministry of Environment and Water and ExxonMobil will give presentations. The students of the Geology Department will also have a part of this event and their research ideas will be presented to attendees of this event.
During the event the Emirates Society of Geoscience (ESG) will conduct their foundation meeting and also being presented is The Gemstone Exhibition, where over 35 precious minerals and other geological samples will be on show.
Dr. Abdullah Al Khanbashi, Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, said:
