Human error and unsafe behaviour accounts for almost 90% of all accidents, including those caused by inexperienced and unskilled workers. It is found that these accidents are often attributed to human error such as operational error, judgmental error, and job-related error, all of which are caused by human characteristics.
Most of these errors are said to be associated with psychological factors affecting human behavior. According to recent research, the mechanism of the occurrence of industrial accidents shows that unsafe situations, i.e., machinery failure or deficiency of work method, account for 80% of the total accidents. This is in particular significance in the Middle East, where the region has witnessed massive growth especially in the construction industry, oil & gas, the energy markets in general and the manufacturing sectors.
In light of this, Middle East will become the gathering point for industry professionals and experts involved in HSE to address the latest issues of industrial accidents. This conference will bring together numerous safety managers and practitioners in the Middle East to facilitate and encourage the sharing of ideas and practical advice on improving safety standards and performance.
The Zero Harm Zero Accident Conference 2011 on May 8 & 9 at Abu Dhabi, UAE will discuss the latest trends and interact personally with the experts whilst garnering the knowledge of effective zero harm target strategies to reduce and avoid potential accidents to achieve zero lost time incidents.
This conference will also feature half-day workshop on Analysing and employing Behavioural Based Safety (BBS)
controls to improve on safety standards by Mohamed Al-Muflehi, Head of HSE of Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO), UAE. He's also the winner of the 2010 Outstanding Leader of the Year Award at the prestigious Oil & Gas Awards.
