Top GCC maritime industry experts will be gathering under one roof to dissect and analyse the region's expanding Middle East fleet this October at Seatrade Middle East Maritime (SMEM) 2010.
Addressing the challenges and opportunities that shipowners face as they gain prominence on the global shipping market will be a key discussion as well as the outlook for major shipping markets - tanker, dry bulk and container - and in particular, shipping relations between the Middle East and China.
Amongst the influential speakers who will converge on Dubai International Exhibition & Conference Centre from 26 - 28 October is Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Group CEO, Dubai World; Humoud Al-Ajlan, Group CEO, National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA); Nabil Bourisli, Chairman and MD of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) and Jørn Hinge, President & CEO of United Arab Shipping Company.
Most importantly, delegates to the sessions will be able to present their own questions for discussion with these industry leaders.
Seatrade Chairman, Chris Hayman, said: "We are proud that these speakers have chosen SMEM to discuss these important regional issues. Their participation in the programme goes a large way in continuing to ensure that the Middle East has a voice on the world shipping map."
The conference programme also includes an industry first - a dedicated Technology Forum supported by EMEC at which marine technology experts will present the latest engineering developments in all areas of ship equipment - as well as Money & Ships, during which bankers and financiers will provide an overview on who is lending what and on what terms.
The US$38 billion worth of ports projects taking place across the MENA region will also be discussed with speakers including DP World Senior Vice President - Global Operations Andrew Adam and Capt. Feisal Ahmed Saad, manager of Ras Laffan Port.
The offshore marine market will discussed in its own session under the chair of Todd Grove, President and COO, Europe Division, ABS. Confirmed speakers include Fazel Fazelbhoy, CEO, Topaz Energy & Marine Ltd and Rasmus Stute of Germanischer Lloyd AG.
Delegates still have a chance to register for the early bird discount before 18 September and can pick and choose what sessions they wish to attend - or the whole conference. To register: www.seatrade-middleeast.com/conference.
