Global property portal lamudi investigates the region's tallest skyscrapers

If 10 of the tallest towers in the Arab world were stacked together, this super skyscraper would reach three-and-a-half kilometers into the sky. At 754 storeys high, it would take you more than an hour to climb all the way to the top - if you couldn't access the 300 elevators inside the tower.

Global property portal Lamudihas investigated the tallest skyscrapers in the Arab world, most of which are located in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. For those who like their property sky-high, the Lamudi team has crunched the numbers  and prepared a handy visual guide to the top 10 super towers in the region.

The BurjKhalifa tower, in Dubai, reaches almost one kilometer into the sky and is currently the tallest building - as well as the tallest free-standing structure - in the world. Built in 2010, this tower has one of the world's fastest elevators with a maximum speed of 36 km/h travelling more than 160 storeys. The tower consists of private residences as well as a hotel and office space.

Mecca in Saudi Arabia is home to a tower reaching more than half a kilometer - Mecca Royal Hotel Clock Tower, also known as the Abraj Al-Bait Towers. Situated right next to Al-Masjid Al-Haram (the Grand Mosque), this five-star hotel has one of the world's largest clocks, the height and width of which both reach 43m. The tower complex is spread over 23 hectares and, apart from luxury hotel suites, it comprises permanent private residences, an Islamic museum, an observation center and a prayer room that can host more than 10,000 people.

The third tallest tower Al Hamra Tower on the list is located in Kuwait and stands more than 400m above the ground. The building consists of office space that can be reached by one of the tower's 43 elevators.

The remainder of the top 10 list includes Sky Tower in the UAE, Kingdom Center in Saudi Arabia, Aspire Tower in Qatar, Dual Towers 1 and 2 in Bahrain, Al AyaanSharjah in UAE, Platinum Tower in Lebanon and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tower in Egypt.

Saudi Arabia will soon be a game changer with construction now under way of the world's largest tower which will reach one kilometer into the sky. The new Kingdom Tower is scheduled to be completed in 2019 and will offer apartments and hotel rooms.
