Boosts Market Share with Participation in Numerous Cultural Events Including Hala Febrayer

Kuwait City, Kuwait

As Kuwait's 20-year tourism masterplan gets underway, supported by the Kuwait Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Thrifty Car Rental has opted to capitalize on this era of growth and development in the country by actively participating in a number of recent events organized by the government to highlight Kuwait's natural beauty and tremendous potential as the cultural and commercial capital of the Middle East.

In a move aimed at boosting market share in Kuwait, Thrifty Car Rental is participating in Hala Febrayer (Arabic for 'Welcome February'), a month-long celebration of culture, arts and sports that coincides with Kuwait's National and Liberation days and features cultural shows, shopping carnivals and numerous raffles and contests.

"Kuwait continues to position itself in the GCC as the ideal getaway destination for the whole family.  There is also a strong emphasis on Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions (MICE) travel and our fabulous Hala Febrayer offer is certain to attract the influx of people expected to visit Kuwait this February, be it for work or leisure," said Emad AlDawood, president, Osoul House, Thrifty Car Rental master licensee for Kuwait.

Ahmad Sultan, sales and marketing manager, Thrifty Kuwait, added that the special offer is available throughout February at the newest Thrifty outlet on New Fahd Al-Salem Street.  Customers who rent for 5 days get an extra day free and those who rent for 6 days get 2 days free.  Those customers who choose not take up these offers are also eligible to receive free upgrades.

Sultan further said that the hospitality sector in Kuwait had a responsibility to play a pivotal role in supplementing the efforts of the Kuwaiti government to create additional demand for Destination Kuwait.

"Studies have shown that the car rental industry is an integral part of the hospitality sector here in the Middle East.  It is Thrifty's understanding of this that has enabled us to gain strong market share here in Kuwait," he said

"Changes in immigration and investment regulations coupled with the announcement of more than 20 new hotel projects have all helped contribute to the rapid increase in the number of visitors to Kuwait from the GCC and Europe.  Thrifty Kuwait is committed to ensuring that we have the resources, vehicles, and presence available to accommodate this rise in demand," added Sultan.

One of the fastest-growing organizations within the Dollar Thrifty Middle East franchise network, Thrifty Kuwait maintains an inventory of more than 200 quality Japanese and American vehicles, as well as three conveniently located outlets (including Kuwait International Airport and Down Town), to meet the automotive rental needs of tourists, business travellers, and residents in Kuwait.

Globally, Thrifty serves more than 1,000 locations in Africa; Asia; the Caribbean; Europe; the Middle East; North, Central and South America and the Pacific.
