DUBAI: Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of business information services, has collaborated with the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) to develop a digital learning portal that will enable professionals to access a high level of regulatory and compliance training.
The collaborative project is one of the first for a financial services regulator and affirms the DFSA’s reputation as an innovative regulator.
The portal will offer employees at DFSA-authorised firms, such as senior executives, money laundering reporting and compliance officers access to training courses on compliance and business conduct to help them meet their annual continuing professional development obligations.
Thomson Reuters has already developed five training courses, and all are available in Arabic and English. These initial courses will cover the following regulatory topics:
- Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing;
- Sanctions;
- Information Security and Cyber Risk Awareness;
- Data Privacy; and
- Code of Conduct (Ethics)
Commenting on the project, Peter Smith, Managing Director, Head of Strategy, Policy and Risk, DFSA said: “Our role in maintaining DFSA’s reputation as a leading global financial centre requires rigorous monitoring of regulatory standards for more than 500 authorised firms located within this financial free zone. Our work with Thomson Reuters, for the development of this digital learning portal, is an effective and efficient means of providing access to training that can assist DFSA authorised firms to maintain staff competence and expertise.”
Hamed Halawani, Head of Risk, Middle East and North Africa, Thomson Reuters, said: “A well-functioning financial services industry is crucial to supporting other industries and, consequently, economic growth. Our collaboration with the DFSA enables us to contribute our expertise in regulatory and compliance training to an organization that maintains the highest industry standards, and we are proud to work on this pioneering project.”
Registration to the digital learning portal starts on 19th May 2021 and can be accessed here: link.
