•Subscribers urged to register before deadline

•1.3 million lines disconnected for non-registration so far

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 10 April, 2013 - The third phase of Etisalat's SIM card registration under the 'My Number, My Identity' campaign will end on April 16, 2013.

The deadline for registration for the third phase for the 'My Number, My Identity' campaign is April 16, 2013. Registration of mobile numbers for subscribers who received an SMS notification within the due date will prevent disconnection of lines. So far, Etisalat has disconnected  1.3 million lines and will continue to disconnect users who receive the notification and  do not  register.

In this phase, Etisalat expects an increase in mobile number registrations via its two new channels introduced last month -- online and third party partners.

Mandated by the UAE Telecom Regulatory Authority, registration of SIM cards will ultimately protect subscribers from misuse or confidentiality infringement. The first step of the third phase was completed successfully which involved sending SMSs notifying customers to register by the deadline, April 16, 2013.

Ayman Eldessouky, Chief Sales Officer, Etisalat, said: "Etisalat's business strategy is aimed at service excellence to ensure customer satisfaction. To this end, registration of their numbers is a crucial step towards preventing the global threat of identity theft and misuse. Etisalat has extended all necessary support to the TRA's my number my identity campaign by introducing new registration channels and adding new partners to ease the process for customers."

For online registration, subscribers can start the process on www.etisalat.ae and complete the process at Etisalat point of sales to authenticate the customer details. Customers can also approach Etisalat point of sales or partner branches, listed on the company website, to register or update their personal information.

Moreover, customers can enquire about the registration status on the toll free number (800121) which is available in four languages Arabic, English, Urdu and Malayalam. Alternately, they can call  *1771# from their mobile phones to get updated information about their registration status.

The easy and quick registration policy requires mobile subscribers to produce valid and original identification documents at any Etisalat kiosk across the country along with a copy of the ID proof. Documents include Emirates ID or passport for UAE nationals, passport or GCC National ID for GCC nationals, and the Emirates ID or passport along with valid residence visa for all other nationalities. Business and government customers must present a valid establishment card issued by the UAE Ministry of Interior.
