2020 opening date to sync with Dubai Canal's Marasi development
The project will be a 167-room hotel with 239 fully-serviced luxury residences
The Langham, London is a quintessentially British hotel with a noble history - famed as the birthplace of afternoon tea
Dubai: Dubai-based developer Omniyat is delighted to announce that its much-awaited project, The Langham, Downtown Dubai, will open in 2020. Managed by Langham Hospitality Group, the luxury hotel is expected to open in the third quarter of Dubai’s Expo year.
In anticipation of the project, Omniyat has announced that it will hold a unique Langham-style experiential demonstration in Dubai next week, which will transport visitors to the famous London hotel and give the UAE its first taste of The Langham’s quintessential style and flavour.
The one-day event, to be held at the ballroom of the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach on November 6 and inspired by The Langham, London, will be designed with authentic Langham furnishings, service and the hotel’s iconic loose-leaf tea — The Langham, London is credited as being the birthplace of afternoon tea.
The demonstration is open to members of public and will also act as a fully immersive sales event - this will be the first opportunity for potential buyers to invest in Langham Place Residences, Downtown Dubai. Omniyat is offering eight per cent guaranteed return on the high-end apartments, as a show of the developer’s confidence in the iconic brand and the project.
Both the hotel and residences will be situated in the heart of the Marasi development on the banks of Dubai Canal, with stunning views of the new marina on one side and the Burj Khalifa on the other. It will be a 167-room hotel with 239 fully-serviced luxury residences, ranging from one, two and three bedroom suites to duplex penthouses.
Mahdi Amjad, Executive Chairman and CEO of Omniyat, said: “Omniyat has always strived to break new ground in Dubai’s property sector and to collaborate with the world’s most prestigious brands. By finally bringing The Langham to the UAE, we continue this core strength of our work.
The Langham Hotels and Resorts brand is the pinnacle of high-end service and recognised around the world for its richly decorated rooms, contemporary furnishings and its inimitable English air of prestige. Dubai has been longing for a hotel like this to shake the luxury sector and redefine luxury lifestyle in the market.”
Andrew Jessop, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Development at Langham Hospitality Group, said: “The arrival of the Langham Hotels and Resorts brand in the Middle East establishes a new territory for us, and it happens to be one of the most evolving hospitality markets in the world. Partnering with Omniyat was a natural choice for us, as their iconic property portfolio mirrors Langham Hospitality Group’s ethos of operating historic or design-driven buildings.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating the opening of The Langham, Downtown Dubai just as the city gets ready to host the world as part of Expo 2020, another landmark occasion in Dubai’s achievement timeline.”
On its opening in 1865, The Langham, London was regarded as Europe’s first Grand Hotel and pioneered the use of hydraulic lifts and air conditioning. On opening the building, the Prince of Wales, who would later become King Edward VII, famously said that the hotel had ‘everything a man, woman or child could desire under one roof’.
The Langham, London was frequented by many of history’s most famous names, including Sir Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde, Napoleon III, Princess Diana and Wallis Simpson.
The property has regularly made cameo appearances on film and served as inspiration to many works of fiction. The hotel featured in the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye; the British TV show Hustle; its restaurant served as the primary setting in the culinary film Burnt; and it was many times a location in the fictional work of Sherlock Holmes.
Omniyat is a rapidly expanding Dubai-based property developer. Since its launch in 2005, the company has built a development portfolio worth over $6.2 billion and in the next five years plans to roll out further ambitious residential and hospitality developments. Some of the company’s impressive luxury projects include: The Opus, One Palm, The Sterling, The Pad, ANWA and The Langham Downtown Dubai.
