Abu Dhabi: The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch bus services between Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah. The signing of the MoU comes in part of ITC’s endeavour to enhance the cooperation between government entities and offer the public with the best services.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Maktoum Al Kaabi, the Executive Director of the Technology and Transport Systems Sector at the Integrated Transport Centre and H.E. Eng. Ismail Hassan Al Balooshi, Director General of RAK Transport Authority. The signing ceremony was attended by many officials from both entities.

According to the MoU, bus services will operate between Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah according to the following schedule:

“The agreement between both entities comes in part of the continuous efforts to develop the public bus transport infrastructure and develop the quality of the services offered. It also unifies the efforts dedicated to develop the strategic plans and regulate this sector,” said Mr. Maktoum Al Kaabi, the Executive Director of the Technology and Transport Systems Sector at the ITC. Al Kaabi added that it is important to set performance indicators and standards to assess the success of such services that in turn will establish an integrated and efficient transport network that is safe and secured. This transport network will also encourage the public to improve their travel behaviour and use alternative modes of transport.

H.E. Eng. Ismail Hassan Al Balooshi, Director General of RAK Transport Authority stated that the MoU is an indicator of the strategic partnership between both parties and enhances the cooperation opportunities in the public transport sector. This follows the remarkable development of the transport sector in the UAE.

It is worth to mention that the agreement is a step towards the integration of the services in the UAE in aim to fulfil the public demand on public buses and offer them with safe and efficient services at a reasonable cost.
