Fayrouz's internationally acclaimed show to be staged in City Hall, Sharjah
Sharjah, 12th April 2008 - STG( Sharjah Theatres Group) has today announced that it will host Fayrouz, the legendary Arabic performer, to star in the internationally renowned show 'Sah el Nawm'. The musical play will be staged from 2nd to 6th May in Sharjah's flag-ship venue, University City Hall, and is expected to sell-out on all nights. STG brings the show to exclusively to Sharjah the only UAE destination that it will play, fresh from successful performances in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan; all of which sold out in record time.
One of the world's greatest singing legends, Fayrouz is adored and revered in the Arab world and far beyond. Fayrouz who cuts a commanding presence on stage, has forged a highly-successful career and gained unique standing as a heroine in this region and an inspiration for generations.

Sah el Nawm which is written by the Rahbani Brothers, was first performed in 1970 and continues to hold popular appeal due to the supreme talent of Fayrouz. This recent production has played to audiences of over 20,000 in Lebanon (in three performances), over 9,000 in Amman (two performances) and 11,000 in Damascus. All performances sold out in record time, a testament to Fayrouz's continued appeal and place in the regions heart.
During her illustrious career, Fayrouz has performed all across the globe. Fayrouz possesses an astonishing repertoire of around 1500 songs of which over 800 have been released recording sales of over 80 million worldwide. To date Fayrouz has yielded record-breaking performances month after month, year after year and continues to do so.
For STG which was formed in November 2007, Sah el Nawm is one of many productions of high acclaim and artistic merit that they plan to premier throughout Sharjah. STG's aim is to utilize the performing arts to affirm Sharjah's position as the region's cultural epicenter, an honour bestowed upon it by UNESCO, who awarded it the title of Cultural Capital of the UAE.
