His Excellency, Engineer Salim bin Mohd Al Nuami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport & Telecommunication for 'Transport' this morning presided the Certificate Presentation Ceremony organized by Port Services Corporation (SAOG), Port Sultan Qaboos at its Headquarters in Jibroo, Muttrah for 17 of its employees who have recently completed their training overseas as part of the corporation's continuous endeavor to upgrade the present skills of the workforce and its commitment to provide efficient, professional and safety - oriented marine services for ships calling Port Sultan Qaboos.

It may be noted that 2 Management Trainees have successfully completed the 8 - month Postgraduate Diploma course in 'Port, Shipping & Transport Management' conducted by Shipping & Transport College of Rotterdam, Netherlands and have now joined the Operations Management Team.

2 Tug Cadets were deputed to Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Alexandr ia , Republic of Egypt for the ' Tug Master' course and they are now qualified and performing their duties as full - fledged Tug Captains after having successfully completed the intensive 20 - Week theoretical cum Practical Training at the Academy while other 13 Tug Crew attended various Maritime Safety training courses such as Fire prevention & fire fighting, Personal safety & soc ia l responsibilities, Elementary first aid & Personal survival techniques at International Maritime Institute - Ind ia , which is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of Ind ia . The training programmes were implemented in line with the requirements of International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers (STCW) adopted in 1978 and amended in 1995 and 1997.
