Four-Day Programme to Introduce Delegates to Green Building Core Concepts and the LEED® Rating Systems

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The British University in Dubai (BUiD) and Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC) have launched a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) training course to support the demand for certified professionals in sustainable design.

The LEED green building certification program, a US Green Building Council accreditation registration, encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through a suite of rating systems that recognize projects that implement strategies for better environmental and health performance.

The LEED Associate Exam Preparation Course taking place at BUiD is designed for architects, real estate professionals, facility managers, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, construction managers, lenders and government officials looking to learn about green building concepts and the LEED rating systems.

"The UAE is among the fastest-growing cities worldwide and an active supporter of environmentally-friendly design and building practice," said Professor Abdullah Alshamsi, Vice-Chancellor, BUiD.

"There is a high demand for accredited sustainable design courses in the country and we are proud to be a local university providing international-standard training in environmentally-friendly practices for the construction and operation of buildings," added Alshamsi.

The four-day course is led by chartered engineer and LEED Accredited Professional, Alan Millin, and introduces delegates to green building core concepts and the LEED rating systems. Throughout the course program delegates are presented with sample exam questions to prepare them for the LEED Green Associate exam.

LEED Green Associate is the required first step on the path to becoming a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) with specialty. This programme meets the education requirements to prepare for the LEED Associate Exam.

After completing the course, delegates understand the core concepts of green building and the LEED rating systems and will be familiar with the forms of questions presented in the LEED Green Associate exam.
