27 September 2012, Abu Dhabi: The Board of Governors of The British School Al Khubairat is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Christopher Ray as its new Principal. Dr Ray will assume his new role on August 1st 2013, and will be accompanied by his wife Carol.
Chris Ray is currently High Master of The Manchester Grammar School, one of the UK's outstanding academic schools. He has held this position for eight years. Prior to this he was Head of The John Lyon School, Harrow and has also taught at Marlborough College, Framlingham College and Kings College School, Wimbledon.
Dr Ray is a prominent figure in UK education and is also the Chairman of HMC (the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference), a professional association of Head Teachers of 250 of the world's leading independent schools.
Julie Richards MBE, Chairman of the Board said today: "The governors are delighted with this appointment which represents the culmination of an intensive search. Chris Ray will be a wonderful addition to BSAK, having a passion for education and a vision which aligns closely with the school's strategic plan. He will be a fitting successor to Paul Coackley, whose inspirational leadership during the past seven years has brought the school to its current highly respected position."
