Held as part of the DED-organised Back-2-School Surprises, the unique Traffic Academy event helps children and parents with a few safety tips
One of the grimmest facts about traffic accidents is that children are often the victims, and often the cause as well. Many accidents are caused by children running across a road, drivers swerving to avoid them, children distracting drivers within a car, or by a child who steps off a kerb without watching for oncoming cars.
To tackle this problem, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have organised a unique Traffic Academy to teach children the importance of road safety. The Traffic Academy will run until September 1 at Deira City Centre, and is part of the agenda for Back-2-School Surprises week, the last week of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).
Why should children learn about traffic safety? "Children often do not fully understand how dangerous traffic can be. By learning the basics of traffic safety, they can learn to protect themselves from harm as well as make the roads safer. Though young children can cross streets, sometimes they can be distracted, act impulsively, and are not always able to predict the direction of traffic - whether its coming from right or left," said a spokesperson for RTA.
"The Traffic Academy has been designed to effectively educate children and inform them about traffic signals, the correct way to board a bus, cross roads, safety precautions to keep in mind while on the road, and to effectively educate parents about this information so they in turn can reinforce the learning daily with their children," she added.
To make the learning more effective, there are competitions and quizzes with questions about traffic safety. There will also be screenings of educational films to depict road safety and appropriate behaviour in a vehicle.
Traffic expert Salah Marzouki, Deputy Director, RTA, said, "The Traffic Academy will show children and parents the causes of accidents and how to prevent them. It aims to refine children's behavior in school buses, cars, and on the road." /n /n2.School of the past event at/nReturning students study ancient climates Dubai-27 August 2006 : School many forms, There is a big school and there are small private girls for boys, But in the past were not all of these forms are available, but there was one type of school, simple, and to provide an opportunity for students to demand and identify how to study, schools that had students in the United Arab Emirates destination for science, The chamber-economic development of the organization speculative return to school-effectiveness of the organization called the "School of the Past", where mounted in the center Bergman adapted tent, It is the old school, which meant the students and old students receive science and knowledge, The school administers this one is adapted. where children are Batehvez parts of the Holy Quran and the Prophet some verses /nP.B.U.HH and interpretation of the Koran, The school has boys and girls, where it comes from each of carrying gunny sack containing the Koran and some food, and rarely kept, This is a wonderful opportunity to effectively identify children to schools of the past, which are an important part of the history and heritage of the State, They compared them with what they enjoy now in the well-being of the modern school and what the students experienced in the past in order to have access to science and knowledge.
