BD 1.4 million to be invested in 100 students

Isa Town, March 01, 2009, Sunday: Tamkeen (Labour Fund) is showing the way when it comes to equipping Bahrainis with top-class vocational training by signing a BD 1.4 million MoU with the Bahrain Polytechnic for the enrollment of 100 promising young Bahrainis into market driven specialisations.

The MoU was signed at the Bahrain Polytechnic Premises by Tamkeen's Chief Executive Mr. Abdulellah Al Qassimi and Bahrain Polytechnic's Chief Executive Officer Mr. John Scott.

Under the deal, not only will the students' education be sponsored by Tamkeen, but the Bahrain Polytechnic will also identify valuable employment opportunities for the beneficiaries in value the private sector after graduation.

"The Tamkeen-Bahrain Polytechnic MoU is a big step forward for the recognition of vocational training's impact on the career prospects of Bahrainis," said Tamkeen's Chief Executive Mr. Abdulellah Al Qassimi, "The Bahrain Polytechnic offers a mix of carefully-chosen programmes including Mechanical Engineering, Electrotrchnology, Business Studies, Information and Communications Technology, Transport, Freight and Logistics, and Office Administration. We believe that these programmes will prepare young Bahrainis for the workplace of the future and answer our requirements excellently, thus opening up new career paths for them and prosperity for Bahrain."
