SMS the word or phrase to receive translation and pronunciation guide

Abu Dhabi, 19 April 2006: Emirates Telecommunications Corporation- Etisalat- has announced a new service, 'Tahaddath', which is aimed at aiding the interaction between people of different backgrounds, and providing them with a valuable communication tool. Through this service, customers can simply send an SMS to 1002 with the word or sentence that they want translated, and they will receive a message with the translation and pronunciation guide. Tahaddath can be used to translate between English and Arabic.

Essa Al Haddad, Executive Vice President- Marketing, Etisalat, said: "In this multicultural society we live in, our customers would face many situation in which they wished for an easy translation service that aids them instantly. Now with their mobile phone, they can simply send an SMS with the word or sentence they want translated, and receive not only the translation but also a pronunciation guide. Etisalat is very happy to empower its customers with such a service."

Etisalat had earlier launched the 'Tarjim' service which enabled customers to translate words between Arabic and English, and has now introduced 'Tahaddath' which can translate words and sentences and even provide a pronunciation guide. Messages of 160 characters in English and 70 characters in Arabic will be considered as one message, and each message is charged at 60 Fils. The customer simply needs to type in the word or sentence that is to be translated and send it to 1002, and the translation and pronunciation guide will be received by SMS to the mobile phone.
