Innovative technology and strong partnership highlighted at region's leading technology event
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Sun Microsystems Middle East & North Africa will unveil new integrated solutions at GITEX 2003, with live online demonstrations of the SAP IS Retail solution and an advance preview of the new SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0, powered by Sun platforms.
Sun experts will be present at the SAP Arabia solution island, offering a “proof of concept” environment complete with live demonstrations of these new Sun and SAP solutions. This year, both companies anticipate serious discussions with a number of leading retail companies around the new IS solution, as well as significant interest in Enterprise Portal 6.0, the latest version of the market-leading information management solution.
“Enterprise Portal 6.0 is a major step forward for one of our key solutions, enabling companies to integrate diverse sources of enterprise data, and take control of their IT environments,” said Essam Enany, President of SAP Arabia. “We’ll be premiering this solution on a Sun platform at GITEX 2003, offering attendees the first glance at this pioneering technology and reinforcing the strength of our partnership.”
The launch of Enterprise Portal 6.0 has the potential to be one of the highlights of this year’s GITEX, as interest in corporate portals has risen significantly in recent months from companies looking to control increasingly complex IT environments and convert unstructured information into usable knowledge.
“Part of Sun’s strength in the region is the openness of our technology vision, which enables us to build robust partnerships with industry leaders and ensure that we deliver upon our customers’ expectations,” stated Stavros Vougas, channel and marketing manager for Sun Microsystems MENA. “By supporting innovative developments like SAP’s Enterprise Portal 6.0, Sun’s technology is helping businesses in the region perform to the highest standards and ensure the strongest return on investment.”
Sun’s presence will be bolstered by a live link through to the Tech Access Solutions Center, the Sun Authorized iForce Ready Center based in Dubai Internet City.
Sun and SAP will draw from regional case studies based on the diversity of shared customers in the Middle East to demonstrate how businesses in the region can improve system performance and reduce costs associated with their IT infrastructure.
Visitors to GITEX can see the Sun Microsystems – SAP partnership in action in Hall 2.
