The Low Down

First screeching onto television screens in 1975, 'Starsky & Hutch' brought much of the streetwise grit, the violence, and the sheer excitement from hit movies such as 'Dirty Harry' to the small screen. There had been Police series virtually since then beginning of television, but 'Starsky & Hutch' had something else - this show was undoubtedly "hip". A huge hit at the time, it now stands as one of the iconic cop shows of the 1970s, particularly thanks to the fashions and infamous car chases that went with it.

The Goods

Jump into the Zebrathree with two of the coolest undercover cops in town - the soft-spoken Hutch (Owen Wilson) and the street-wise Starsky (Ben Stiller). They join forces to solve the toughest cases in the roughest neighborhoods - battling the hard-nosed but lovable Captain Dobey (Fred Williamson) to fight crime in their own unconventional way. And with the assistance of the irrepressibly hip Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg), they catch the bad guys, every time.

Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Snoop Dogg, Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn hit the streets to bring the original partners in crime back to life for another crack at crime bustin and as per the original there tough on crime and easy on the eye.

For good cops and bad hair check out The Movie Channel on the 27th July at 21:00 KSA for the latest version of Starsky & Hutch.

The Evidence

Also up for the part of Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg) were Don Cheadle and Chris Rock.

Will Ferrell did all of his scenes in one day.

Vince Vaughn accidentally had his face smashed into fake glass during one take where Ben Stiller arrests him while being dressed as a mime.

Ben Stiller actually went to stunt-driver school and did well, but he still wasn't approved to do all of the driving stunts.

Vince Vaughn was originally set to play Hutch.

"Don't Give Up On Us Baby", sung by Ken Hutchinson (Owen Wilson) in this movie, was released in 1977 and sung by David Soul, who played Ken Hutchinson in the TV version of "Starsky and Hutch" (1975)

When Vince Vaughn slaps Snoop Dogg during the golfing scene, it was actually unexpected the first time. Todd Phillips said, "Snoop went on with the scene and then when it ended he said, 'What the hell was that??'."

8-10 seconds of the three-way kiss had to be cut to secure a PG-13 rating.

Todd Phillips was having a hard time finding a blueish 1976 Lincoln for Huggy Bear. When he revealed this to Snoop Dogg, he was surprised to learn that Snoop actually owned a car of the right color and it's his car that appears in the movie.

Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul (the original Starsky & Hutch) have cameos at the end of the movie, but even though Antonio Fargas (the original Huggy Bear) also expressed an interest at making some sort of cameo, he was not used.
