AMA apologizes for delayed start and disruption of live broadcast
DUBAI: May 17, 2003
The Arabian Music Awards, the first ever awards event for the Arabic music industry, was held yesterday at the Dubai International Convention Centre.
The best of Arabic music talent was honoured at a glittering event that saw performances by both regional and international stars. The event was also attended by several regional and international media.
The objective of the Awards was to celebrate creative excellence in the Arab music industry, which in the last few years has caught the imagination of the global industry. The Awards also sought to support the intellectual property rights of Arabic music artists.
According to the organizers, the Arabian Music Academy (AMA), the event saw a few unfortunate technical problems. The failure of a link between the front and back stages delayed the event while a breakdown in the link between the stage and the satellite broadcast unit prevented the live broadcast of the event. Music fans will, however, be able to watch a full version of the awards on Future TV later this week.
AMA has tendered an apology to the music celebrities who graced the event despite the disruptions and the television audiences who were unable to view the telecast. It expressed its gratitude to everybody who participated in the Awards including the sponsors, especially Nokia and Procter & Gamble.
Dubai Media City (DMC), which also supported AMA’s initiative, expresses its sincere apologies and wishes the AMA every success in their future events. DMC also thanks Arabic music fans, the television audiences and the press for their support and patience.
