23-year veteran strengthens Bank's Senior Management

Dubai, 27 February 2006: Standard Chartered Bank, one of the leading international banks in the UAE, has announced the appointment of David Koay as the new Head Client Relationships in Wholesale Banking in the United Arab Emirates. David will be responsible for enhancing the bank's client relationships business as part of the overall Group Wholesale Banking strategy.

Immediately prior to assuming this key role in the UAE, David held the senior position as Head of Global Corporates within the Client Relationships division of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur. There, he was instrumental in rebuilding the Client Relationships team, as well growing the Wholesale Banking businesses within the country over the past three years.

Prior to joining Standard chartered in 2002 David worked in senior positions both in the banking and corporate sectors, including Macquarie Bank Singapore, Usaha Tegas Group Malaysia, Australia's Elders Group and Citibank Australia.In all David has 23 years of experience in corporate treasury, finance and auditing.

A graduate in economics and accounting, David also holds a Masters in Business Administration from Australia.
