Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised the first of a series of seminars familiarising businesses with the concepts of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Performance Program 2011, at the Chamber premises today (Sunday, April 17).
H.E. Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber, launched the event, as part of a series of seminars and training workshops to be held in Dubai and other Emirates throughout the year, in the presence of prominent speakers from the past winning companies as well as representatives of a number of organizations interested in achieving business excellence.
In his inaugural speech, Buamim informed that Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Performance Program which is the highest level of national recognition for business performance excellence is in line with Dubai Chamber's strategic objective of creating a favourable business environment for its members and the diverse Dubai business community.
Buamim said Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Performance Program which is based on an internationally well regarded and sophisticated business model is an intensive qualification initiative for businesses aiming to synergize UAE businesses. He added that the Program also integrates business performance strategies, processes, operations and performance results according to the latest concepts.
Highlighting the importance of the seminars, Buamim said: "Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Performance Program is an exciting journey for businesses to excel, learn and develop sustainable business practices hence these series of seminars and training workshops are geared to assist businesses to adopt excellent business practices and prepare them for participation in the prestigious Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award."
Buamim added that through this Program the Chamber has awarded over 73 companies in the past five years for excellence in business processes and practices as the Award not only recognizes the companies' efforts but also helps to enhance their contribution to the economic development of the country besides boosting the reputation of UAE businesses worldwide.
He further stressed that the Program is designed to encourage all types of organizations in the UAE to foster excellence within their business. "By adopting this business model, organizations will have the competitive advantage to join the elite club for excellence while creating internationally leading market standards and practices that will enhance their business reputation as well economic growth," said Buamim.
One of the speakers, Anand Lobo, Senior Manager, Business Planning and Strategy, National Bank of Abu Dhabi said, "A proud winner of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award 2010, NBAD is honoured to have the opportunity to share our Best practices relating to the Financial and Marketplace. To learn from the model criteria, we undertook an internal assessment where we identified areas where the bank was already closely aligned with the model and areas with scope for improvement. Based on these findings we identified a number of improvement activities in the areas of Strategy, Customer, Innovation and CSR which were taken forward for implementation.
"The Award's Business Performance Model represents a comprehensive guide for any organisation intending to integrate the principles of excellence in business. Excellent organisations are recognised from the results they deliver, and results are achieved by effectively implementing improvement actions under the eight key processes of the model in a systematic way," he said.
Eng Ali Hojati, Business Development and Excellence Director, Unibeton Ready Mix who gave a presentation on leadership and strategy within the firmament of the excellence award added, "Unibeton has won several coveted awards and certifications in the past, but winning Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award gave an impetus to explore boundaries and zeal to become the first choice for sustainable Ready Mix Concrete Solutions in the region."
The participants acknowledged the role of Dubai Chamber in recognizing business excellence as the seminar provided a clear understanding of the new Business Performance Program, scoring categories as well as evaluation while highlighting the importance of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Club which encourages interaction, learning and cooperation and allows all its members to develop business competitiveness, adopt best global business practices and elevate their business reputation worldwide. The Club is open to all organizations in the country.
