Schneider Electric Presents Advanced Solutions at "Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Conference"

Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, has announced introduction of key innovative solutions for optimum management of water and waste in the second "Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Conference (SWSSC II)". The Conference  shed the light on a wide range of topics around six main themes; drinking water systems, sustainable wastewater treatment systems,  innovative technologies for industrial wastewater treatment, advanced sea water desalination technologies, wastewater reuse and sludge application and capacity development and environmental awareness.

The conference is inaugurated by Dr. Hisham Kandil, Egyptian Prime Minister and Dr. Abdel Kawi Khalifa, Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation, and is attended by a number of officials from water and sanitation holding company, in addition to a considerable number of regional and international water experts from USA, Germany, The Netherlands, the conference discussed the latest technology applied for the enhancement of drinking and waste water treatment services as well as the latest solutions in water management systems and efficiency.

From his side, Sherif Abdel Fattah, Vice President of Schneider Electric for Government and Major Customers Relations said: "Water scarcity is becoming a major global concern especially in Egypt, where per capita water share has dropped to 700 m³ per year. With the issues surrounding Nile Basin countries, we need to improve water management and efficiency to ensure that every Egyptian has adequate and uninterrupted access to clean water."

Schneider Electric, one of the largest global companies in control systems, introduced five new solutions that increase efficiency, safety and availability of water and set new standards of innovation and excellence in water treatment industry. The new solutions included highly efficient desalination solutions that can provide energy and control using renewable solar energy, network management solution "Telemetry", which provides remote control of rural and unmanned sites, water operation and optimization solutions, which can operate the water process starting from the treatment phase till the distribution network  and wastewater solution for waste water treatment plant using self-generation, which saves the consumed energy in the plant by about 30%, using the wastes of the plant in providing energy.

In this regard, Eng. Ramy Mostafa, Vice President - Industry Business Unit - Schneider Electric North East Africa asserted: "Monitoring Systems in the water industry has given plant operators unprecedented capabilities to monitor and control all aspects of water production and distribution from a centralized control room." Ramy added: "Schneider Electric leverages off this investment using state of the art software to allow predictive as opposed to reactive control of the water system, which improves water quality through reduced water age, minimizes energy costs and improved system operations compromising operational reliability."

The conference also addressed the latest and most pertinent water issues confronting our rapidly changing world. Sustainable water supply and sanitation is a very important issue due to increase in water scarcity, impact of climate change globally and high demand on water and competition among different usages.

During the Conference and Exhibition, Schneider Electric presented its solutions to water experts and professionals, policymakers, private institutions, industry leaders, experts, consultants, regulators, academics and practitioners.

The conference provides an opportunity to discuss technical as well as policy issues amongst different stakeholders in the global water community. It will optimize the benefit by sharing experiences and success stories to help in improving the level of proficiency and efficiency in the delivery of water services for existing demand as well as for a sustainable future for next generations.
