Showcases Transformer Range at Middle East Technical Transformer Conference
Riyadh-Saudi Arabia: 23 April 2013 - Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, reaffirmed its commitment to energy efficiency at the recent Middle East Transformers Technical Conference in Riyadh through showcasing new trends in medium voltage transformers and its diverse transformer offerings for the region.
With more than 80 participants, the conference successfully initiated dialogue among various stakeholders from within Saudi Arabia's key industries, including the Saudi Electrical Company (SEC), as well as ministries (Ministry of High Education, Defense) and large engineering and electrical consulting companies.
The company's participation comes on the back of its recent enhancement to the transformer portfolio, in response to increased demand for greater reliability and efficiency. Schneider Electric is continuously investing in research and development to develop new solutions suitable for regional market conditions compliant with the latest International Electro-technical Commission (IEC) standards. Schneider Electric transformers also offer long life duration through low partial discharge below 5 pC.
The portfolio in particular offers a feasible solution to policy makers and communities across the world, that are seriously interest in addressing energy and environmental issues. Schneider Electric's efforts to enhance the transformer solutions also come at a time when the concern for energy efficiency is high with countrywide losses ranging from four percent to 30 percent of the electricity use. These losses indicate a significant potential for improvement.
Michel Sacotte, Schneider Electric Keynote Speaker and IEC member, said: "Distribution transformers are the second largest loss-making component in electricity networks, after lines. Schneider Electric's offering in the transformer space is truly a class apart. We deliver the best solutions and products that ensure long term cost savings and efficient all-round performance. Our products are tailored to the diverse needs of the region and keep in sight the region's urgent call to adopt energy efficient strategies for safeguarding our planet."
Schneider Electric offers a complete range of transformers from 50 kVA up to 100 MVA, 170 kV in Oil Type and from 50 to 30 MVA, 52 KV in Dry Type. Innovations in the industry have led to the development of modern technology such as Schneider Electric's amorphous transformers (Minera HE+) that can withstand short circuits and help cut down loss by 3, and consequently CO2 emissions.
Schneider Electric has more than 30 years of active presence in Saudi Arabia, an established sales and marketing network, manufacturing facilities, strong local partnerships and outstanding references; Schneider Electric continues to serve the Saudi economy with comprehensive solutions for all its power and control needs.
