New Generation Terminals Provide Maximum Performance, High-level Security, Multi-application Support and Guaranteed Interoperability with Existing MagIC Products
SEATTLE - SchlumbergerSema, a business unit of Schlumberger Limited, today launched its MagIC Evolution point-of-sale (POS) terminals optimized for the new generation of smart card payments. This new family of POS terminals extends the MagIC payment platform to give merchant's unrivalled flexibility for future e-payment programs, as well as a smart card-capable infrastructure to support multi-application smart card-based programs and services.
Incorporating a dedicated payment processor for faster transaction speed and new platform security, SchlumbergerSema MagIC Evolution terminals set new standards in POS performance and security for standalone, multi-aisle and portable models. Leveraging the latest smart card technology, the new terminals balance the increasing complexity of e-payment transactions with exceptional high performance to provide the ideal combination of speed and security.
A high performance, flexible POS infrastructure is vital to both large and small retailers, which now face the need to fully capitalize on the smart payment opportunities that can enable them to offer new, differentiating services. SchlumbergerSema MagIC terminals meet the emerging need for customer-activated transactions, and feature a flexible, secure architecture that supports the development of standalone applications, as well as ones that can run simultaneously alongside others.
Payment-dedicated architecture, support for TCP/IP protocol and a secure platform allow merchants to maximize their advantage in the evolving e-payment marketplace. A dedicated e-payment ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) supports complex smart card-fuelled transactions, while up to 8MB of memory with firewall hardware ensures that payment and value-added service applications can co-exist securely.
The MagIC Evolution platform includes the MagIC X1000 line, which offers compact design for portability and mobility. The new line includes a GSM/GPRS version; the countertop MagIC 6100 terminal with external PINPad; and the new compact, countertop MagIC 5100 terminal with integrated PINPad. As a leading supplier of EMV-POS solutions, SchlumbergerSema has built the MagIC Evolution family on the solid track record of its MagIC terminals, which already have an installed base of 600,000 units worldwide. With its extensive international network of offices and partners, SchlumbergerSema is able to offer its customers a global POS solution, complete with local customer support.
To date, SchlumbergerSema MagIC POS terminals are certified by the leading processors in North America, including: FDMS Nashville, Vital Processing, NOVA, Paymentech, GPS MAPP, GPS NDC and FDR Omaha.
