Provides Employees with Secure Access to Corporate Directories via Mobile Phones
LONDON - Schlumberger announced today that SchlumbergerSema, its information technology business segment, has launched LookUp, a new SMS solution for corporate customers that provides low cost, secure, global access to corporate directories via employees' mobile phones. Using the existing IT infrastructure, SchlumbergerSema systems integration services can set up the service in any company within two weeks, delivering greater efficiencies through improved productivity of mobile employees and reduced telephone costs for the business.
While away from the office, employees are now able to find the contact numbers of colleagues by simply sending a text message to a designated mobile telephone number. Within seconds the employee will receive a text message detailing all telephone numbers for that colleague. The numbers are then available in the mobile telephone, and can be easily dialed and/or saved to the mobile phone. This enables employees to carry on with business as usual while away from the office, and replaces the need to call another colleague, secretary or switchboard to find a number.
Recognizing the need to keep the information stored within the corporate directory secure and private, SchlumbergerSema has developed enhanced security features so that only company employees sending an SMS message from their company mobile phone along with their unique company alias can access the directory. Only when the unique alias and mobile telephone number match is the information sent.
"Through our expertise in SMS, security systems and systems integration services, we have developed a high value solution that for a minimal investment extends the communication infrastructure to make our customers' work days easier and helps them save time and money," commented Stephen Tucker, head of Telecom at SchlumbergerSema. "Furthermore, the service is in line with the goals of most businesses to provide easier, quicker communication and faster turnaround while avoiding duplication."
The Lookup service can be further extended to enable access to corporate information such as Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relationship Management systems to enable, for example, engineers to quickly and easily check the stock levels of spare parts they require while on the job site.
With more than 20 years telecommunications experience and serving over 350 operators worldwide, SchlumbergerSema provides consulting and systems integration services, along with a strong set of business and operational solutions to the industry. The portfolio of services includes complete end-to-end and component based solutions for customer care and billing. With the largest installed base of pre- and post-paid billing systems, the company is uniquely positioned to deliver fully convergent billing. SchlumbergerSema also provides messaging services, customer relationship management solutions, secure wireless application services, SIM and USIM smart cards.
