Schlumberger DeXa.Net Remote Connectivity Services extends very small aperture terminal (VSAT) communications to commercial offshore vessels
HOUSTON - Schlumberger, a global technology services company, announced today the expansion of their DeXa.Net Remote Connectivity Services with the addition of a 1.2 meter SpaceTrack stabilized antenna. This system addresses the requirement for low capacity connectivity using VSAT technology from moving vessels. This antenna size will operate on Ku Band and be suitable for small to medium-sized inshore vessels, allowing them to communicate directly via voice and data to their operations bases onshore with improved connectivity on a 24 x 7 basis at an economical price point.
The SpaceTrack Stabilized Antenna System, offered as part of the DeXa.Net secure, global connectivity service, embodies the latest generation of satellite and stabilization control technology available today and makes it possible to extend land-based operations to a fully mobile office at sea. The advanced technology and diminished footprint allow the system to be reliably deployed on all marine vessels including commercial fishing fleets, cruise and ferry boats, naval vessels and all offshore installation FPSOs (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading vessels), supply vessels, tug boats and barges.
SpaceTrack 4000 Stabilization units are comprised of mechanical, electronic and interface assemblies fitted with appropriate RF unit (transceiver) antenna and Radome, and accommodate customer-specified combinations. Every Spacetrack 4000 Stabilized Antenna System is Eutelsat/Intesal and FCC compliant:
- SpaceTrack 4012K 1.2m KU Band Antenna
- SpaceTrack 4018K 1.8m KU Band Antenna
- SpaceTrack 4024K 2.4m KU Band Antenna
- SpaceTrack 4024C 2.4m C Band Antenna
- SpaceTrack 4037 3.7m C Band Antenna
"Regardless of whether communication is routine information flow, secure business dialogue or mission-critical data transmissions, cost-efficiency and reliability are our paramount concerns," said Jean-Michel Rouylou, vice president of Connectivity Services for Schlumberger Network and Infrastructure Solutions. "This compact unit is reinforced by our geographically dispersed earth stations, our managed services and our technical consulting personnel. So now, even small vessels can benefit from an economically feasible means of communication no matter how remote their passage or how severe the sea conditions."
