Environmentally-friendly solar-powered parking terminals accept coins, dollar bills, credit cards and the Miami Parking Card, under cost-effective wireless communication supervision

PHILADELPHIA (Parking Industry Expo) - Schlumberger Smart Cards and Terminals, a business segment of Schlumberger Limited, today announced the delivery of Stelio and DGLine solar-powered Pay & Display multi-space parking terminals together with its new ParkfolioWeb service package to the City of Miami.

The Schlumberger solution enables the motorist to pay for parking at a centralized parking terminal, receive a receipt, and display the receipt on the dashboard for the allotted amount of time. This type of system provides ease-of-use for the citizen, as well as a dramatic reduction to Miami's operating costs. Further, it eliminates measured, single-space parking, and frees up more on-street parking than conventional meters. The elimination of the single space meters also enhances the overall image of the city.

ParkfolioWeb enables the city to monitor its parking terminals anytime, anywhere, with a simple PC equipped with an Internet connection and a standard browser. Credit card transactions are collected on-line, equipment status and alarms are reported in real time, and all financial and statistical information is permanently available via dynamic reports.

"The performance and features offered by this product - wireless communication, offer of magnetic-stripe and chip cards compatibility, the integrated solar panel allowing for an environmentally friendly terminal that is easy to install - have all contributed to our decision to replace single-space parking meters with multi-space meters," stated Luis Choter, Jr., director On-Street Operations for the Miami Parking Authority. Mr. Choter went on to say, "We are pleased to offer our citizens and visitors to the City of Miami, updated parking technology that is safe, reliable and convenient."

"The Schlumberger Pay & Display meter will increase parking revenue for the City of Miami by increasing parking turnover," added George Levey, vice president of eCity for Schlumberger, North America. "Operational costs will decrease as the environmentally-friendly built-in solar panels provide a cost-effective way to power the terminals and eliminate the installation and recurring expense associated with electricity. Operational costs are furthermore reduced since our advanced ParkfolioWeb service package optimizes the functioning of the terminals network without the constraint of running a sophisticated IT platform."
