Schlumberger - Now NPTest - Rated Above the Three Largest ATE Companies
SAN JOSE, California - NPTest, Inc., the wholly-owned subsidiary of Schlumberger Limited (NYSE: SLB) formerly known as Schlumberger Semiconductor Solutions, announced today that VLSI Research Inc awarded the company a coveted 10 BEST rating among providers of Test and Material Handling Equipment in its 2002 Customer Satisfaction Survey. Results are based on customer survey responses that rate suppliers on a broad range of important equipment performance and customer service parameters. NPTest ranked number six in the Test and Material Handling Equipment category and garnered particularly high scores from customers in the areas of quality of results, process support, technical leadership, field engineering support, support after sales and vendor's overall commitment.
"We are extremely proud to earn the resounding support of our customers," stated Ashok Belani, president and CEO of NPTest Inc. "Satisfied customers are our number one priority. We have dedicated and talented teams that work very closely with customers to provide them the best in test and diagnostic technologies and then support them with world-class service. When our customers are successful, we are too."
"This year was an especially difficult one for the semiconductor industry. Equipment users had to rely upon products that could meet increasing performance requirements and appreciated vendors like Schlumberger, who backed them with outstanding support," stated Risto Puhakka, vice president, VLSI Research Inc "In good times and bad, customer satisfaction is a leading indicator of quality suppliers."
Customers rated the full range of Schlumberger test and material handling equipment-SOC, high-speed digital and structural test systems-and design diagnostics instruments from electron-beam to the latest PICA-based analysis tools and focused ion beam systems.
The VLSI Research Inc 10 BEST findings were based on 2,500 surveys returned by semiconductor equipment users around the world. Users of chip-making equipment were asked to rate their suppliers on a ten-point scale among thirteen categories that exemplify a supplier's relationship with its customers. These thirteen categories include seven measures of equipment performance and six of customer service. The performance measures are cost of ownership, uptime, software, build quality, usable throughput, quality of results, and product performance. The six customer service categories are process support, field engineering support, spares support, support after sales, technical leadership, and vendor's overall commitment.
