SAUDI ARABIA: Public Safety and Homeland Security solutions providers Nurizon Corporation have been awarded the first ever Mobile Licence Plate Recognition (MLPR) Project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the National Saudi Police Forces.

Security multinational Nurizon Corporation, is the first organisation to provide and implement Mobile Licence Plate Recognition Systems or Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) for the security forces in the Kingdom, and have been working closely with a number of government agencies in recent months to undertake rigorous nationwide trials, resulting in the largest ever project roll out of Mobile ANPR technology seen to date.

Christopher Riddell, Chief Executive Officer for Nurizon Corporation commented that "Nurizon Corporation is at the forefront of delivering mission critical security solutions in the Middle East and this latest award demonstrates our continued commitment in the region". Christopher also went on to add "Nurizon's Mobile Licence Plate Recognition Software is currently in use around the world, and provides security agencies with an added level of protection and intelligence gathering capabilities unseen before ".

Nurizon Corporations Licence Plate Recognition System, works by installing video cameras inside a vehicle, connected to a ruggedised in vehicle computer. The Mobile Eye® Licence Plate Recognition software then processes the video feed being received from the cameras, and automatically checks the visible licence plates against a Kingdomwide "Hot List" Database.

If a vehicle match is found, the police officer is automatically notified by an audible alert, and the vehicle ownership details, and alert information is displayed on the touchscreen.

Mobile Eye® is capable of scanning both Arabic and English licence plates, including the new licence plates which are being phased in at the moment across the Kingdom. Another advanced feature of the Mobile Eye® software, is that it is also able to operate at night time, and in low light level conditions.

Imad Al-Sayed, EMEA Managing Director for Nurizon Corporation commented that "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing an increase in use of mobile policing technologies, including the use of in vehicle computing, and data gathering technology". Imad also went on to add "Nurizon Corporation remains at the forefront of delivering and implementing such technology for both private and government sector organisations".
