Dubai - SAS Public Security will be using its appearance at two leading Middle East conferences this October to demonstrate itsindustry expertise and innovative technology solutions to tackle the challenges of social media intelligence, analytics and information sharing to reduce threats for public security agencies.

SASPublic Security will be attending Milipol Qatar 2014, the international exhibition of internal State security (20-22 October 2014, Doha Exhibition Centre, Doha, QatarStand B1, UK Pavilion,) and the Emirates Security Exhibition and Conference - EmSEC (28-29 October 2014, Al BustanRotana Hotel, Dubai, UAE).

At these events SAS will focus on how its public security solutions can be deployed to help agencies across the Middle East region tackle the growing use of social media by violent protesters, intent on instigating attacks, riots and disruption, as well as its use in more day to day criminal activity. In particular, SAS will focus on how its advanced analytics technology can be used to identify relevant information from the deluge of online noise to pinpoint suspect individuals and monitor patterns of influence.

According to Jason Goodwin, sales director, Public Security Division, EMEA at SAS: "Agencies across the Middle East face a host of serious challenges as they battle to deal with the growing threat of groups using social media to stir up insurgency and unrest, while at the same time needing to concentrate on the urgent need to protect national borders and to keep the public safe".

Serious crime and terrorism are truly international concerns, with cross-border criminal activity increasingly being the norm. This creates challenges between and within countries and regions, where agencies face practical problems of sharing information from different systems in an effective, secure, reliable and timely manner. If agencies don't share, decisions can be made based on an incomplete picture of the analysed and available information. This could increase the risk to security, lawenforcement personnel and the public.

SAS enables law enforcement and security agencies to share information in a fast and effective way by providing them with a single, holistic solution that avoids the complexities of deploying and managing multiple systems. The SAS fusion center solutionis ideal for multi-agency/distributed environments as it can be configured to the agency - enabling specificprocesses, workflows and protocols - while at the same time ensuring consistency, governance and rigor.

"At SAS, we are dedicated to delivering the solutions and expertise they need to effectively tackle the ongoing issues and concerns they face in these areas every day", added Jason Goodwin.
