Saudi Arabia to increase 5000 Mega Watts annually and Electric Diesel Generators to fill the gap between the current demand and available capacities
Sami Akeel, Sawary Energy Vice President, valued the direction of the Ministry Of Industry and Commerce to support the increased electrical generation capacities to meet the increasing market demand to compensate the continuous electrical demand which is valued at 8% annualy, in addition to the increasing demand and the expansion of the networks , thereby increasing demand for electric generators , especially in factories and major projects , hospitals, and shopping malls to cope with emergencies and breakdowns , sudden interruptions , or voltage fluctuation at peak time..
Akeel pointed at the great challenges faced by the electric power sector in the Kingdom, noting that the production capacity of electric power reached until last year, about 54 MW, and that the Kingdom need to add about 5 thousand megawatts annually, and that thousand megawatts need around 15 billion riyals investments, stressing at Saudi Arabia 's interest in this sector , where it plans to invest more than 300 billion riyals by the end of 2020 , with the aim of increasing the production capacity of the electricity sector and the development of transport networks and stations and all associated systems .
Sami Akeel, sawary Energy Vice President, stressed that electric diesel generators played a significant role in promoting economic development , and advancing the overall sustainable development taking place in the Kingdom over the past decades , and so far, and bridging the gap between the current needs of the energy and capacity electric available, to cover the growing needs the demand for electric power as a result of a progressive urban development , and mega - projects implemented by the government .
