To create a transformational digital experience; focus on building channel partnerships

Dubai - September 5th, 2011: SanDisk gears up for this year's GITEX Shopper 2011, showcasing its innovation in flash memory and storage system technologies. In its sixth year of participation with its dedicated booth and retail partners in the region, consumer and photography enthusiasts can look forward to a new and transformational digital experience and exciting promotions.

"GITEX Shopper has always been an event we look forward to throughout the year. We relish the opportunity to interact with consumers and gain useful feedback on our products and most importantly, unveil and celebrate the innovations we have planned. We also use this regional gathering of retail heavyweights to expand our channel partnerships and brainstorm with our existing partners on how to best add value in their markets," said Tareq Husseini, SanDisk's Regional Sales Director, Middle East and Africa (MEA).

Consumer demand for smartphones, tablets and other electronic devices continues to fuel strong global demand for NAND flash memory. To cater to this demand, SanDisk and Toshiba recently open Fab 5, the third 300mm wafer NAND flash memory fabrication facility in Japan. The new facility will start production of the 19nm (nanometer) technology, the world's smallest, most advanced process node.

"We are very excited with the opportunities opening up for SanDisk with smart-phones and tablets. As mobile devices get smaller, our investment in NAND technology will show greater returns, as this new technology packs double the storage capacity into a smaller space, making them highly suitable for today's mobile devices," said Pascal De Boer, Vice President of Retail Business for SanDisk in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

As part of its channel strategy, SanDisk provides assistance and training on all its products to retailers; salespeople are trained on up-selling and cross-selling techniques as a value addition to other electronics purchases on imaging, gaming and mobile. Furthermore, the channel partners are incentivized by planning promotions and give-aways. SanDisk's diverse product portfolio includes flash memory cards and embedded solutions used in smart phones, tablets, digital cameras, camcorders, digital media players and other consumer electronic devices, as well as USB flash drives and solid-state drives (SSD) for the computing market.
