Samsung aims to capture 25% of market share of the regional color laser print category by end of 2007

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 6 June 2007: Samsung Electronics, the world's second largest laser printer manufacturer, reinforced its global leadership in the mini-color laser all-in-one market with the launch of the world's most compact and lightest color laser multi-function unit, the Samsung CLX-2160 series.

Available in retail stores across the Gulf region, the Samsung CLX-2160 series leverages on the company's expertise in digital convergence and improves its existing printer's line-up by offering added features to serve the needs of the growing small office/ home office market.

Merging cutting edge design with uncompromised performance, the all-in-one CLX2160 offers the functionalities of printing, scanning and photo copying.

The printer's stylish and compact design - 41.3cm x 36.3cm x 38.3cm - allows it to be operated from a regular desk. The printer's height has further been reduced by 15cm to allow for users to print, copy and scan while seated.

The unveiling of the CLX-2160 follows the successful launch of the CLX-3160FN - the world's smallest 4-in-1 color laser printer (46.6cm x 42.9cm x 48.6cm) in 2006.

According to Seunggu Kang, general manager of the printer division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, the CLX-2160 range will drive Samsung's expansion in the color laser all-in-one market.

Kang said: "The color laser all-in-one market is expanding rapidly in the region and the demand is especially high among SOHO users.

Samsung has pioneered the personal color laser printer market with the launch of the CLP-300 series and we will focus our core competency in expanding the personal color laser all-in-one market through the CLX-2160 series. We hope to capture 25% of the market share in the Gulf region by end of 2007," Kang continued.

The 'CLX-2160' series provides up to 2400dpi resolution for sharp color printing, along with printing 16 black-and-white copies per minute or four pages per minute in color.

The toner is capable of printing 2,000 black-and-white copies or 1,000 color copies and could be easily replaced with a simple front-loading process.

The 'CLX-2160N' model is an all-in-one unit with a networking function, capable of supporting Samsung's SyncThruTM network program, for optimal operation of a multi-user network environment.

Samsung's patent low-noise design technology - NO-NOISTM (Non-Orbiting Noiseless Optic Imaging System) - has been utilized to assure quiet operation in any office environment.

The CLX-2160 adopts "USB direct function" to enable scanning and printing without a PC, and storing scanned images in USB memory, while popular image formats, like TIFF, BMP, JPEG, PDF, can be read and printed with the USB.

The "ID-copy button" allows one-touch automatic copying of both sides of an ID, for more convenient use at banks, travel agencies, correspondent agencies, and offices where IDs often need to be copied.

The CLX 2160N is now available across the region for a retail price of USD 499 (AED 1,849).
