The company's new UTR technology withstands all weather conditions and provides optimal indoor cooling in temperatures of 55C and higher
Dubai, June 16th, 2004: Samsung Electronics, the global leader in digital technology today announced that the Centre for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) based in the United States has tested its UTR compressor’s performance and determined that it achieved an energy efficiency ratio at least 10% higher than that of conventional reciprocating compressors. The company’s new UTR technology is durable enough to withstand all weather conditions and provides optimal indoor cooling in temperatures of 55°C and higher.
“Samsung has leveraged its digital technology to develop a new concept of air conditioners with UTR (Ultra tropical) technology after passing a year of clinical trials and certifications from leading agencies. The company conducted a comprehensive study of the Middle East air conditioners market, and observed that none of the available products were capable of dealing with the region’s extreme heat,” said Mr. Keun Sang Yoo, Senior Manager, Home Appliance Division.
Leading air conditioner inspection agencies have acclaimed Samsung for its ability to produce effective air conditioning systems in the Middle East. According to Radhi Al Asafra, Chief Engineer of Air Conditioning Technology Center, a leading Saudi-based inspection agency approved by Electrical Testing Labs (ETL) Saudi Arabia for authorized SASO (Saudi Arabia Standards Organisation) certification, “Samsung’s air conditioner has power beyond what is normally expected. Our test results clearly prove that Samsung’s technological expertise has successfully overcome all the problems plaguing compressor cooling operation systems prevailing in the region’s air conditioning industry.”
“Based on our analysis, we subsequently made it a priority to develop the ideal air conditioner for the Middle East. With over a year of reliability testing, we have introduced UTR compressor-based air conditioners that are capable of operating in temperatures of 55°C and higher. In this process, Samsung has yet again marked a new chapter in the history of air conditioners,” Mr. Yoo added.
Samsung’s newly developed UTR compressor is equipped with a high-torque motor that can operate under heavy loads. The motor has been specially redesigned to start even when the voltage is low. The compressor’s lifetime has been greatly extended by coating the main parts with highly durable materials to suppress wear and tear.
Recently, Samsung Electronics introduced a new split-type air conditioner called the Bionizer, which generates negative ions and has an enhanced air cleaning function. The Middle East is one of the target markets for the Bionizer and is being promoted across the region.
