This weekend get floored by Latin rhythms and Salsa, when Dubai will host the International Latin and Salsa Festival - Dubai 2007, a three-day cultural extravaganza that will not only take the breath away but will also find Dubai a place on the international dance circuit.

This Latin and Salsa festival - which is being organized in association with the Los Angeles' Albert Torres Productions (the world's most famous Latin producer and promoter) - will be held from November 22 to 24 at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre, the Mall of the Emirates.

Some 3000 people from around the world have already arrived in the city to watch and take part in this musical dance and cultural spectacle, which has at its core what is undoubtedly the most breathtaking Salsa show in the world, aptly called 'The Museum of Salsa'.

Among those who have arrived in the city are the world's top 50 Salsa and Latin performers, all of whom are slated to compete in the World Salsa Championship qualifying round which is very much part of 'The Museum of Salsa' weekend. The winner of this qualifying round will go on to participate in the World Salsa Championship to be held in Orlando, another indicator that Dubai is now definitely part of the international Salsa scene.

Participants and competitors include top artistes from the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, India, Kuwait, Jordan, Italy, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Poland, USA, U K, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, France, Bulgaria and several other countries.

The event has already generated tremendous interest, and there is palpable excitement among Latin dance lovers in the UAE, especially those who appreciate Latin rhythms such as Salsa, Bachata, Samba, Rumba, Merengue and Reaggeton.

Among the big names who have arrived to take part are Tito y Tamara (Puerto Rico) of the 'Dirty Dancing-Havana Nights'-fame, Hacha y Machete (USA), Swing Guys (Italy), Susana Montero and Leon Rose (UK), the Salsa Dance Squad (Holland), Los Hermanos (Italy) and Alex Lima (Brazil).

With 'The Museum of Salsa' at the core of the dance and music festival, there will be non-stop activity surrounding this amazing weekend. There will be daily workshops (40 in 2 days) of world class standards for beginners and intermediate and advanced levels in Salsa, Bachata, Samba, Reggaeton and many more Latin moves, which will give dance aficionados a chance to learn from the stars.

Thereafter, it is on to another exciting level - Latin and Salsa dancing every night, at specially selected venues in town, right up to 3 in the morning! "These parties will be the pulse of the festival and what will make this event unique. The public will not only follow what is happening on stage but will also get the chance to participate. The fun starts immediately after the show, when everyone will gather on the floor. This is the uniting power of the dance where nationality, social status, language and culture, nothing will be obstacle in communication," said Ahmed Abdulla, the organizer of the event.

Choreography for this extravaganza of Latin rhythms is by Eric Lalta and the Salsa Dance Squad. Eric runs a dancing school and is a specialist in choreography. His dancing team, the 'Salsa Dance Squad', has an International reputation for stunning performances. It is the biggest show team in Holland and is internationally acclaimed for its original shows. The leaders of the group, Eric and Lina, are extremely creative dancers who have won many awards.

The International Latin and Salsa Festival - Dubai 2007 was kick-started by a spectacular Columbian Salsa performance by BNF on November 21 which is a Ballet Nacional El Firulete Dubai - Columbia. The group, which is based in Dubai, creates astounding shows of music and dance which encompass excellent artistic and choreographic qualities, elegance, creativity and skill.
