RTA Head Office decorated by the 'Spirit of the Union' logo

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has celebrated the UAE 40th National Day in a ceremony comprising a number of events & activities where departments of different RTA sectors and agencies contended in staging diverse events. All RTA facilities and Customer Service Centers were decorated with the state flag along with portraits of their highnesses the Rulers of the Emirate, while the front end of RTA building was garnished by a massive image of the National Day logo (Spirit of the Union) to epitomize the festive atmosphere in celebration of this prized occasion.

Commenting on the event, His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, said: "The second of December will remain an indelible date in the conscience of the UAE citizens, and a permanent source of their pride & prestige. On this date in 1971, the UAE Federation was announced as the most successful unionist model ever seen in the Arab world, following which the drive of growth and advancement has been kicked off and gathered pace to put our country in a prominent position befitting its glorious history and rich legacy."

"This day tantamount to a cheerful event (Eid) on which we renew our pledge to work with full diligence & determination to achieve yet more successes for our beloved country and build a brighter future for ourselves as well as future generations.

"The theme of the UAE 40th National Day celebrations (Spirit of the Union) epitomizes the concept of bonding the components of the federation; which is derived from the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan that is continuing to roll on under our wise leadership steered by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

"Thanks to the shrewd leadership of the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, his brother Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and their brothers Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates, the UAE has made numerous economic, development, social and urban achievements that merited it to emerge as a reputable global commercial, financial and tourist hub. It also mapped out a wise approach to foreign policy as well as regional & international relations built on the principles of good neighborliness, respect for international conventions and offering a helping hand to sister and friendly countries around the globe to alleviate their sufferings out of sheer humanitarian grounds. What has been physically achieved on the ground in terms of economic, social and urban development is a unique accomplishment by all standards, however, the real miracle rests on cultivating the human talents through enriching individuals with know-how, culture and all sorts of knowledge in order to contribute to further development & prosperity," added Al Tayer.

At the start of the ceremony, HE Mattar Al Tayer, accompanied by the CEOs and Directors, hoisted the state flag at the main entrance of RTA Head Office before touring a number of departments to inspect their participations in this occasion. Such participations included a cultural expo documenting the sweeping development drive witnessed by the UAE since the establishment of the Federation in 1971, heritage shows containing a collection of antique artifacts, handicrafts, ornaments & decorations, and popular fashion, in addition to corner for traditional foods for which the UAE is famous such as the Khamir, Khabeesah, bread, tortillas, noodles (Balaleet), and Khanfruch, and Harees among others. Shows also included a cast of traditional arts such as Al Razeef, Al Harbiyah, Al Ayallah; which are part of the UAE folklore, and reflect the diversity of cultural and social events. The exhibitions also included portraits of their highnesses the rulers of the Emirates, and images depicting development drive of the UAE.

RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director also toured RTA Employees Products Exhibition which is held for the third year in a row, in order to encourage young Emiratis to pursue their own business ventures, be it Small or Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and seek to bring them into reality. It also offered them a platform to penetrate the realms of business and investments so smoothly by enabling them showcase their products to their colleagues.

The 3rd Expo coincides with RTA's celebrations of the 40th UAE National Day, and this time the event has unique stands featuring quaint houses-inspired designs, where every corner smacks the true fragrance of the past, and typical Emirati flavour, whether through handicrafts including tailoring of jalabiyas, and preparation of incense & perfumes or designing & manufacturing of accessories, heritage jewellery, cup sets, crystalline lighting, bedding, and bags among others.
